How To: Smoke Salvia Divinorum from a Bowl

Though I’m sure some more experienced stoners are amongst the people who will end up at this blog, I’m going to cover this as if someone has never hit a bowl before.
There are 2 main differences between hitting a bowl of salvia divinorum, and hitting a bowl of marijuana. Salvia has a much higher temperature at which the active chemicals are released. So rather than a typical home lighter, you’re going to want a high powered butane one. The second difference is that Salvia is not a “puff puff pass” kind of plant. You take the entire bowl, inhale as much as you can, and keep going. The next person can get a fresh bowl.
Disclaimer: As with any psychadelic plant, make sure you have a sober sitter who can watch you and knows what to do if you start freaking out. We are not reccomending the use of Salvia, but merely attempting to inform you.
Steps:
- Pack a generous sized bowl of Salvia. Make sure it’s ground up, and sprinkle it into the bowl until it is slightly above the upper rim. Push down lightly. Just enough to maximize the amount you can fit in the bowl, without making it so tight it’s hard to hit.
- Put the bowl comfortably in your hand with your thumb or your pointer finger over the hole on either the left or right side of the bowl (referred to as a shotgun)
- Raise the bowl to your mouth, and hold the lighter in your other hand.
- Light the lighter, and push the flame midway into the bowl. When the bowl is obviously lit, take your finger on and off the shotgun at a steady pace, making sure it stays lit. As you get less smoke, relight the lighter and push it deeper into the bowl.
- Hold Your Breath as Long as You Can - It may not taste good, but the longer you can hold it in, the larger affect it’s likely to have.
- Exhale.
- If there’s more in the bowl, relight and repeat as quickly as possible. It’s imperative to get as much as possible as quick as possible.
